To install Scenery Mods in Vice City:

Tools you may need:
IMG Tool v1.3
ViceTXD v1.5b
TXD Builder v1.1

TXD Builder is here:
http://www.steve-m.com

---------------------------

To replace DFF or TXD files:

Open your gta3.img file in your Models folder with
IMG Tool. Search for the file/s you are going to
replace and extract them to a Back-up folder on
your hard drive. You can safely delete them/it now.

Add your new file/s and choose the Rebuild Archive
option in IMG Tool.

That's it.

You cannot replace files with others that are larger than
the original hence the need for deleting the originals
before adding your new files. Renaming files and leaving
them in you gta3.img file isn't really a good idea with
Vice City.

If it's BMP files inside a txd file you are replacing:

Open gta3.img with ViceTXD and search for the TXD you
wish to edit. Choose Replace from the right click menu.
If you are having problems adding a texture you might need
to decrease the color depth or check if it is the correct
format. Irfan View does a good job of decreasing color
depth and can change any image file into other formats.
Remember to choose Rebuild Archive from the IMG Tool menu
after changing any files in the gta3.img file.

Get Irfan View here:
http://www.irfanview.com

Remember - You cannot replace a txd file with one that's
larger than the original hence the need for deleting the
original before adding your new txd file.

Sometimes you may need to reduce the color depth in a file
in order to use it as a replacement. Grab Irfan View and
choose IMAGE > Decrease Color Depth > and adjust
accordingly. If you are not sure what to do just try
experimenting with the settings.

If it's TGA files you wish to add to a txd file:

Change the TGA files into BMP ones using Irfan View.
and follow the instructions above.

You might have to make a new TXD file depending on the size
of the files you want to add to an existing TXD. Grab TXD
Builder and add your bmp files. Remember to do a DFF file
check with this program - this will show you any missing
files you may need. Also remember to add your alphas, if
you have any. Just double click the file that has an alpha,
and tick the Has Alpha box, click the No Alpha Selected bar
and browse to the alpha file you want to add. Click Apply
and your done.

Happy Modding :o)
